Singer Astrid Kloster (born 1970) lives in Stavanger, and over the last couple of decades has made a name for herself on both the local scene and nationally. The combination of a warm, powerful voice and keen expressivity mean that she is regarded as one of Norway’s significant female vocalists.

Her latest album Spor was released in October 2007 and is a tribute to her friend and fellow musician, Kenneth Sivertsen who died in 2006. Besides the title track written by Astrid herself, in this album she also interprets a selection of Kenneth Sivertsen’s ballads. Spor has received glowing reviews.

Astrid Kloster has been involved in many different music projects in recent years. Recently she composed a musical portrait of Nina Simone, which was very well received. Over the years, Astrid Kloster has made recordings and given concerts with a number of other national artists; Jon Eikemo, Odd Nordstoga, Jan Ingvar Toft, Heine Totland, Kenneth Sivertsen, and Göran Fristorp from Sweden.

For a number of years, Astrid Kloster has been lead vocalist in Bergen-based group Aftenlandet.
The group has released five albums of music accompanying texts by poets such as Jakob Sande and Haldis Moren Vesaas.

Although as a recording artist, Astrid Kloster has chosen to sing in her native Norwegian, she finds great inspiration in English-language artists and has a special fondness for powerful, expressive voices such as Joni Michell, Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright.
